A nice island located in the northern part of Bangkok and is accessible via a ferry from Wat Sanam Nuea for a very minimal cost (paid upon arrival to the island), which covers round trip. To get to the ferry terminal, expect about 1 hour commute by car (2+ hours by public transportation) from central Bangkok. The island has a single circular road which goes through shop stalls, restaurants, coffee, nature, etc... one can rent bikes but it seems like a too short (6-7km) round for it.

It was not long distance, only 32 km, but we took almost 2.5 hours to get from my home to OTOP village in Koh Kret, Nanthaburi province. But, it was worth it because this village is very unique, not because it is surrounded by the water of Chao Phraya river but because it provides real Thai culture and special products made locally by the people who are living on the island. The most impressive attraction I saw today was koh kret pottery village and the handcraft museum. When you visit the pottery museum you can be guided by a professional person to make your own special product and take it home for as little as 100 Bhatt 😊 There are shops on the island selling fresh Thai food, sweet and sovenigers at affordable prices. I loved the atmosphere and the views of the river from the restaurant where we had lunch and cold bottles of water for under 200 Bhatt. I loved also the beautiful old houses where most of them owned by eldrey people. To get to the Pak Kret, you can take bus number 505 from the city center, in front of the central world, after you arrive walk for a few minutes twords the river to catch the boat to take you to the island. 1st u need to go to Wat Sanam Nuea, from there cross the river to Ko Kret (30 cent for 1 way/pax). Around 11am, stalls almost fully open in Ko Kret. Many variety traditional food with local price u can find here. Lots of elders are selling their own recipes food, feels great to buy from them, and the taste never disappoint us. Save >2 hours if u wanna walk whole around the island. We encountered high tide, some roads flooded ahead so we decided to stop in the middle way and walked back (maybe bike can be an option to overcome this issue and faster too), rent is also not expensive.

On weekends, when I arrived in the morning, I managed to park in a nearby parking lot. It is located under the elevated railway, near the temple. The ferry is really a quick ride and costs 3 baht per person. As for the island we were looking for... it is very hot during the day, and the stores along the arcade are stuffy, so you should be careful of heat stroke. If you are not physically fit, I recommend going in the evening. The food stalls are inexpensive. Food stalls are inexpensive, but cafes charge city rates. Bicycle rental is 40-150b,. But you may have to wait to rent one. The island is narrow, so be careful when riding. Once you visit here, I guess that's enough.

Cool place to spend half a day during the weekend to cycle around and explore nature. Don't forget to explore OTOP Village Bazaar for some unique food and pottery selection.

Better avoid to come here on normal weekday. Nearly everything is closed. You won’t find a restaurant open. There are no markets. Beside the calm atmosphere there is just nothing. Maybe the COVID Period killed the spirit of this place as it did to so many places in Thailand. Anyway I was told that on weekends it’s better…

Great island to visit. Very interesting walking lane with lots of Thai food and handicraft. Not hot as it's a covered walkway. Just to take not to come during moonsoon season as it might be flooded during high tide and no ferry operations. Super cheap ferry ticket at 15 baht each pax to and fro.
